The Serenity of Nature Healed Me

I was born and raised on Cape Cod by two hardworking parents.

My dad was a man of the land, and every year he made time to plant a large garden and would tend to it each evening after work. On weekends, he loved catching lobsters and harpooning tuna.

He helped me grow my first flower garden and taught me to appreciate nature. He’d point out the different birds that visited, and every summer we’d enjoy homegrown vegetables for dinner.

Growing up on the Cape meant summers at the beach. I loved collecting shells and building sandcastles—simple joys that stayed with me.

Later in life, nature took on a deeper role: it became my healer.

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery, I struggled deeply. I was scared—worried about the future, about raising my son, and about being the wife and mother I wanted to be.

During that time, I began walking along the beach. Slowly, I noticed something shifting. I felt less panicked and more at peace.

Walking along the shore, listening to the waves and the sound of the gulls helped me to be more present in the moment.. Interacting with nature helped me find myself again.

I knew I wanted to stay close to the sea. I began designing and selling sea glass jewelry. Searching the shoreline for sea glass soothed my soul. It helped me heal. I felt joy returning.

Later, I learned photography as a way to capture its beauty. That led me to a new path: helping women gain visibility for their businesses through brand photography.

Recently, I realized how much I still need to be outside. I feel most myself when I’m connecting with nature—and I look forward to photographing more brands dedicated to physical and emotional well-being.

So, here I am. Grateful to be here, and excited for the beautiful moments I hope to capture for you.

Be well—and feel free to reach out [HERE] if you’d like to chat about updating your business photos!
