When Your Visuals Don’t Match Your Expertise, It Affects Your Business.
Recently, I needed physical therapy for my hip. I didn’t know anyone in my area so I did a Google search.
I clicked on several websites and then clicked through to their Meet the Team pages.
I wanted to see the photos of the therapists I’d be working with if I went with their business.
I was looking for someone kind, competent and hopefully, a good listener. The good news is that I did find someone great!
Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about how we’re perceived online through our photos.
As a personal branding photographer, I realize how important it is for service- based entrepreneurs to have photographs that showcase their current level of expertise. My own experience reinforced for me just how important those photos are. They have the power to gain or lose business for your brand.
We often talk about being visible, but in order to be recognized and remembered, we also need to be TRUSTED.
I have to admit sometimes it’s fun to do a photoshoot with a variety of lifestyle shots and different poses, but too many casual shots, too many smiling headshots, trendy or over-glam looks can negatively affect the level of trust the viewer feels.
Instead, it’s good to have photos that showcase your confidence, expertise and professionalism. Potential clients aren’t usually able to sample your service ahead of time, so they rely on your messaging and visuals. There’s a difference between being Seen and being Trusted and that’s what I call the VISUAL CREDIBILITY GAP. The goal is to have photos where potential customers trust you at first sight!
If you’re an entrepreneur who’s great at what they do, but your photos don’t communicate that yet, let’s chat. My Credibility & Connection Brand Photoshoot is designed to showcase you as the professional you are. Because, your brand deserves to be recognized, remembered and First Choice:)
